They’re just turning 30
The past week, the Internet has been going kinda crazy mourning the “death” of Cartoon Network. Even verified accounts started tweeting the announcement of the network shutdown so it really did seem legit.

However, Cartoon Network was quick to address the rumors saying ‘Ya’ll we’re not dead, we’re just turning 30′ on Friday, thus giving hope to their longtime audience and fans.
‘To our fans: We’re not going anywhere. We have been and will always be your home for beloved, innovative cartoons. More to come soon!’ they tweeted.

While the closure rumor is not true, the network is pursuing to lay off 82 staff members in the animation, scripted, and unscripted departments. The announcement was made last Tuesday, which may be the source of the alleged “closure” of the network.
In a report by Variety, the lay-offs are due to the network’s aim to implement “a new streamlined structure” for animation. No announcements also addressed the rumored cancellation of their long-running programs such as Powerpuff Girls, Gumball, and Adventure Time.
As of current, the network is also under a merger with Warner Bros Discovery since this April, which is also part of the reason why the network is making cost cuts.
Cartoon Network is having fun riding the trend while clarifying that they are still pretty much alive.
