True to his word, Joel Lamangan reveals upcoming anti-historical revisionism movie.

Challenge Accepted

‘Oras De Peligro’ starring Cherry Pie Picache is Direk Joel Lamangan’s fulfillment of a promise

Upon the peak of Daryl Yap’s ‘Maid in Malacañang’, veteran filmmaker, activist, and Martial Law survivor Joel Lamangan took on the challenge to create a counter-film against disinformation. “Ilagay natin sa ating balita. Ilagay natin sa ating dula, as ating singing, sa ating pelikula ang totoo.” said Lamangan. He did not fail to keep his end of the bargain.

Director of notable films such as ‘Darna 1991’ ‘The Flor Contemplacion Story’, ‘Mano Po’, and most recently, ‘Rainbow’s Sunset’, Lamangan is set to helm the upcoming documentary drama movie. ‘Oras De Peligro’ was announced through a press conference held last October 23 that covered the film’s storyline.

Written by Eric Ramos and Bonifacio Ilagan who is a Martial Law survivor himself, ‘Oras De Peligro’ is to be produced by Bagong Siklab Productions.

The film follows the story of a poor urban family’s final days of the Marcos dictatorship, according to journalist Kenneth Guda’s post. The setting will be during the EDSA People Power Revolution. Lamangan aims for ‘Oras De Peligro’ to give truth against the lies Marcos loyalists and propagandists have spewed for years.

Actress Cherry Pie Picache was open that it took her some time to accept the project. “In terms of making a film, I would like to sink my teeth into something that’s worth my time talaga.” saying she put into consideration her script, the role, and the people who she will be working with.

The film is also very real and true, says the actress. As an artist, Picache believes that “we also have the responsibility to use our art to engage people, to make people move.”

Picache wants to help the youth discern through this movie, especially in this day and age where there is an advent of information overload.
