Which Pinoy mythical creature are you when dating?

These Pinoy mythical creatures can represent dating styles and experiences

Tinder collected some ‘kwentong kababalaghan’ from some of their users, and this is how it went.

Launched in 2012, Tinder, the world’s largest dating app, asked some of its members this spooky season which Pinoy mythical creatures best represent the current dating culture. Apparently, ghosting is old news. Read on to see how these mythical creatures can represent you and your dating life.

1. Kapre

a.k.a the ‘umasa sa tadhana’ era

This dark-skinned tree giant is known to be a harmless prankster that loves to just sit in tree branches while smoking and doing nothing. The kapre‘s passiveness represents those who love to leave love to chance, those who are not actively looking for a match. The kapre‘s philosophy is simple: when it comes, it comes.

2. Santelmo

a.k.a. the flex and snatch era

Living their best santelmo era are those who decide to take matters into their own hands. This fire spirit is believed to enchant and lure humans. They best represent those who confidently put themselves out there, knowing exactly what they want and how to get it. The santelmo could also be busy choosing their best photo to get their Tinder profile verified and making sure their bio is enticing enough to earn a Swipe Right.

3. Mangkukulam

a.k.a. the babaylan era

Anyone who has sought the help of numerology, astrology, or tarot cards, show telltale signs that they are mangkukulam. To assess compatibility with their crush, they are either busy playing FLAMES or the life path calculator. Without fail, they tweet at 11:11 everyday. They probably also have zodiac signs on their Tinder profiles. For Leos it might read “I will only swipe right to Sagittarius, Aquarius, and Gemini.”

4. Bampira

a.k.a. the ‘lf:cuddles lang’ daw era

Those basking in their bampira era are at the peak of their exploring game. Regardless if the experience is exhilarating, they are still in it for the casual. Bampiras are usually free tonight, spending time on the Tinder Explore tab.

5. Tikbalang

a.k.a. the paasa era

Those in their Tikbalang era bask in the joy of their newfound power: paasa. Often plays with travelers minds (and in dating, hearts), tikbalangs usually lead people on and eventually get them lost along the way. Ghosters and zombies are probably members of their brotherhood.

6. Manananggal

a.k.a. the pro-heartbreaker era

The manananggal is arguably the most popular among Philippine creatures and is the final form o those who fail to find the antidote for their paasa era, becoming pro-heartbreakers.

7. Diwata

a.k.a. the santo era

Everyone enjoying their diwata era has managed to overcome their paasa version. Diwata-level ascension means that they’ve earned the right ti call themselves a dating guru. It is now their responsibility to pass on the dating tips and guides they’ve learned along the way as diwatas. People might now start turning to diwatas for advice (or prayers) for help in their dating journey. Let our response be- sana all.

Regardless of stage, Tinder remains a platform where young singles can find genuine spark and form connections. Tinder Explore and its built-in safety features help young daters make their dating experience all treats and no tricks.
