Our fave ‘Drag Race Philippines’ queens got nominated for WOWIE Awards

Filipino drag queens are world class indeed!

After slaying on TV and killing local gigs, the queens of “Drag Race Philippines” continue to make their mark here in the country and abroad!

World of Wonder, the production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, has released their nominees for their annual WOWIE Awards and five Pinoys got nods this year!

FYI, the WOWIE Awards celebrates the best in artistry, activism, entertainment, and more in the LGBTQ+ community.

TV host Paolo Ballesteros, a.k.a. Mama Pao on Drag Race PH, got nominated alongside Prince for their “The shoes!!” moment on the first episode of the Filipino iteration of the reality competition under the Best Viral Moment (The Internet Icon Award) category.

Runner-up Marina Summers was also nominated for WOWlebrity on the Rise (The Can’t Get You Out of My Head Award). Since her run on the show, Marina released two singles, titled Divine and ride 4 me under Tarsier Records.

And lastly, finalist Eva Le Queen also bagged a nod for Best Beauty Guru (The Painted Award).

Drag Race Philippines season 1 winner Precious Paula Nicole also got a nomination for Breakout Star of the year.

Since the nominations were announced, the local queens have shared their excitement over Filipino girls getting recognition on the international stage.

“Pilipinas, world, let’s make this happen! Make your Filipina Winnah claim her rightful #WOWIES Award!” Marina wrote.

 “Iba talaga ang gandang Filipina!!!” Eva captioned on Instagram. “Let’s show the world that Filipino queens are truly world class!”

Other Filipino-American queens have been nominated in other categories like Rock M. Sakura and Anetra.

To vote for the Filipino gals, go to the World of Wonder website. Votes can be cast once a day in each category. Winners will be announced on May 13.

The first season of Drag Race Philippines premiered in August 2022 and crowned Precious Paula Nicole as the winner. A second season was announced in October 2022.
