Critics slam VP Leni’s look during her latest address – and not much else

Can you come up with something else?

ICYMI, Vice President Leni Robredo took to the airwaves again to address the pvblic and air out her recommendations to revive the PH economy.

In her 20-minute speech, Robredo called the gov’t to instil confidence, as a lack of trust in the government is threatening the country during the pandemic.

She ended the address by making a not-so subtle jab that even if there’s no one leading right now, the Filipino people will stand tall.

‘At kung walang mamumuno, tayo mismo ang hahakbang, tayo mismo ang magtutulungan, tayo mismo ang bibitbit sa isa’t isa.’

As usual, the VP’s address received a slew of criticism from her dissenters. This time, and possibly the weirdest reason, being about the way she looked.

A number of critics accused the VP of looking too ‘smart and presidentiable’ during the address, calling attention to her eyeglasses, Law books , phone, to even the little yellow highlighter on the table as ‘props‘.

Actress Vivian Velez also likened Robredo to ‘Iskul Bukol‘s Miss Tapia with her purple clothing – citing that the fictional character was much smarter than the actual lawyer.

Rather than claiming that the criticism would destroy the government, the VP diverted the attention to her purple top made by PH clothing brand BAYO, which had been working alongside her office in crafting PPEs for frontliners.

Nakakalungkot man na ’yon ’yong pinansin at hindi ’yong laman ng sinabi, gusto kong patulan kasi opportunity to advocate for #supportlocal,’ Robredo said via Facebook.

‘Yung pagtali ng buhok at pagsuot ng salamin, mula nung nag umpisa ang pandemic, nakatali na ang buhok ko. Mahaba na kasi😊 she furthered.

‘Yung salamin, dati naman po akong nagsasalamin. Matagal na. Hindi ko lang tinatanggal ngayon kasi bahagi siya ng proteksiyon laban sa virus.’

She ended her post by emphasizing the need to support local – an important factor since we’re in the midst of a recession.

Aside from the fact that her clothes had nothing to do with the points she was making, it’s also unnecessary to focus on her clothes when we have a President who can get away with rolled-up Barong sleeves and the usual plain polo.

Critique her words and her stance if you want – but let’s not get to clothes when there’s clearly nothing else to bash.

It should be the least of our concerns anyway
