Netflix’s ‘Narcos: Mexico’ is getting a 3rd season
Into the world of cartels
Netflix isn’t done with the addicting story of IRL drug cartels just yet, as they’ve officially greenlit the third season of ‘Narcos: Mexico‘.
Serving as a spin-off to the wildly popular Pablo Escobar series ‘Narcos‘, ‘Narcos: Mexico‘ was supposed to be the OG series’ 4th season but was instead released as a companion leading to the modern Mexican drug war.
After Escobar’s capture, ‘Narcos: Mexico‘ follows the new Godfather of the Guadalajara cartel, Felix Gallardo, who was put behind bars at the end of Season 2.
With Season 2 being set in the 80s, we’re set to see Season 3 take on another time leap to the 1990s.
‘Set in the 90s, when the globalization of the drug business ignites, Season 3 examines the war that breaks out after Felix’s empire splinters,’ S3’s official description reads.
‘As newly independent cartels struggle to survive political upheaval and escalating violence, a new generation of Mexican kingpins emerge. But in this war, truth is the first casualty – and every arrest, murder and take-down only pushes real victory further away.’
Wagner Moura, who famously portrayed Escobar, will also direct two episodes in the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, there’s no word just yet when ‘Narcos: Mexico’ S3 will drop on the streaming platform.
