This award-winning finger-flipping turtle is 2020 in a nutshell
2020 mood
In case you ever wanted to see 2020 in turtle form, look no further than this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards winner, Terry the Turtle.
Photographer Mark Fitzpatrick encountered the pissed-looking sea turtle while swimming the coast of Lady Elliot Island in Australia.
With the turtle’s left flipper raised at just the right time and with those crossed eyes, it undoubtedly resembles someone giving off the middle finger.
‘I was swimming with this turtle at Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef when he flipped me the bird!’ shared Fitzpatrick.
‘Hopefully Terry the Turtle can encourage more people to take a moment and think about how much our incredible wildlife depends on us and what we can do to help them,’ Fitzpatrick continued.
‘Flippers crossed that this award puts Terry in a better mood the next time I see him at Lady Elliot Island!‘
The photograph titled ‘Terry the Turtle flipping the bird’ also placed first in the worldwide competition’s Creatures Under the Sea category.
Meanwhile, The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is an annual global photography contest that aims to ‘highlight the extremely important message of wildlife conservation in an engaging and positive way.’
