PandemINK visualizes the stories of children under the pandemic

Whether it’s the feeling of getting burned out or being insanely productive, we all have our pandemic stories. Kiddos are no exception, as one could only imagine how their youthful innocence copes with the less-than-friendly realities of the lockdown.

Ang Ilustrador Ng Kabataan (Ang INK), an organization composed of local artists advocating for children’s welfare, aims to raise awareness of these experiences through a visual anthology series.

Called PandemINK, the initiative features artistic interpretations of real-life interviews of children aged 3-15, with stories ranging from superpowered face masks, a fairy who whisks away the coronavirus, and a poem about finding solace in extra family time.

The combination of solid writing and gorgeous visuals result in narratives that could pinch your heart and bring a smile to your face at the same time – much like listening to a child IRL.

 

The first volume of stories is available for previews on the Ang INK website, with a 61-page PDF version available for download for a fee on Gumroad. The proceeds will go to the Stairway Foundation, a non-profit org for children care located in Puerto Galera.

Ang INK is set to release a second batch of stories during their annual exhibit on Nov 29, 2020, in partnership with CANVAS (Center for Art, New Ventures, & Sustainable Development)
