Naol: Singapore has already vaccinated 6,200 citizens

Hate to be the bearer of jealousy-inducing news, but fellow South East Asia country Singapore has apparently already vaccinated over 6,200 people against COVID-19.
With the PH government still going at it to defend prioritizing China’s Sinovac vaccine – the one with a lesser efficacy rate and a higher price tag – Singapore has already given more than 6,200 first doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine since the start of its nationwide vaccination drive on December 30, 2020.
Per Channel News Asia, SG also has plans to build 8 large-scale vaccination centers by this February, with their government planning to vaccinate the entire country by the end of the year.
‘Particularly in the last few days, we have been ramping up the capacity, and yesterday we vaccinated 2,800 (people),’ shared SG Health Minister Gan Kim Yon this Wednesday, January 13.
Aside from the quick vaccine turnaround, Singapore utilized digital means and early information dissemination to create a fairly effective pandemic response. As of writing, they’ve had a total of 58,946 total cases.
Meanwhile, PH is in talks to secure Pfizer, Sinovac, and AstraZeneca vaccines, with vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr stating that the first few doses of Pfizer and Sinovac could drop as early as February.
Given Sinovac’s price point and efficacy, numerous LGUs have since taken the liberty of allocating their budgets for the Brit/Sweden-made AstraZeneca.
