LEGO announces its first LGBTQ+ set for Pride Month
Pride Month is just around the corner, and different brands started to unveil what they have in store for the upcoming celebration. People know LEGO as colorful plastic bricks that you can use to create different types of figures, and this time the toy company will release an LGBTQ+ themed building set.
The “Everyone Is Awesome” collection contains a 346-piece set that features 11 monochrome mini-figures. Each mini-figure has its own fabulous hairstyle and color from the rainbow. The set also includes the colors pink, light blue, and white to represent the transgender pride flag. At the same time, the colors black and brown were added to show the Pride flag raised in Philadelphia in 2017, as per Today.
‘The starting point for this was my feeling that we, as a society, could be doing more to show support for each other and appreciate our differences,’ LEGO’s VP of Design, Matthew Ashton, shared in his explanation of the set.
‘Being LGBTQIA+ myself, I knew I needed to step up to the plate and make a real statement about love and inclusivity, and generally spread some LEGO love to everybody who needs it,’ he continued.
The “Everyone Is Awesome” Lego building set is priced at $34.99 or PHP. 1749, and will be available on June 1, which you can purchase via their official website.
