‘Trese’ trailer promises all of the gore and horror of PH folklore
ICYMI, highly anticipated Filipino anime Trese just dropped its first official trailer – and it seems to promise all of the gore and horror we’ve come to know in PH folklore. Streaming services like Netflix enjoy a ton of leeway when it comes to more graphic content, and it seems Trese is looking to take advantage.
Based on the trailer, the starting point of Trese is reminiscent of Shake, Rattle and Roll’s ‘LRT’, one of the more iconic episodes of the anthology series. A train carriage full of passengers mysteriously disappears, leaving only behind a blood-soaked crime scene as evidence of the incident.
Paranormal detective Alexandra Trese looks for answers in the criminal underworld of Metro Manila, which is home to various mythical and supernatural creatures.
The series is based on series of graphic novels by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo. The Netflix adaptation will see Liza Soberano in the title role for the Filipino version, and Shay Mitchell for the English dub. The series debuts on June 11.
