Drake Bell pleads guilty to attempted child endangerment charges
In today’s episode of Things That Ruined Your Childhood, Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh former star Drake Bell pleaded guilty to the charges of attempted endangering of children and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles on Wednesday, as per AP News.
The 34-year-old initially pleaded not guilty to the allegations earlier in June. The charges stemmed from Bell’s Cleveland concert in December 2017 involving a 15-year-old girl at that time. The authorities confirmed that Bell and the girl had established a relationship years before the event.
While the prosecutors won’t disclose what exactly happened to Bell and the girl during the concert, they said that he “violated his duty of care and, in doing so, created a risk of harm to the victim” and “sent inappropriate social media messages.”
Defense attorney Ian N. Friedman said in a statement, ‘All questions will be answered at sentencing, including why Mr. Bell chose to enter today’s plea.’
The felony charge’s sentencing could last for around 18 months, with a $5000 (PHP 250,000) fine. The misdemeanor’s sentencing range lasts up to six months in county jail and a $1000 (PHP 50,000) fine. Bell will also face three years of “post-release control” given his potential prison term. His sentencing is set for July 12 in Cleveland.
Hours after his virtual hearing, the actor was said to be singing live on his Instagram stories. Some of his viewers took to Twitter the screen recording of him performing his own song titled Do What You Want.
