Instagram photos can soon be posted from your desktop

Another month, another update from Instagram. A few of the recent updates include a safety DM feature, displaying people’s preferred pronouns, and even hiding ‘like counts.’ This time, the photosharing app is testing the ability for its users to post photos via desktop, as per TechCrunch.

Social media consultant Matt Navarra posted screenshots on how to use Instagram’s latest feature. Once logged in through a web browser, the user should see the “plus” icon between the DM and discover page symbols.

After selecting a photo, the same built-in settings from the app can be used to edit. The user can then place a caption and adjust the comment settings before posting. It’s the tech giant’s first time allowing its users to post outside the app.

‘We know that many people access Instagram from their computer,’ IG spokesperson Christine Pai confirmed the test on Bloomberg. ‘To improve that experience, we’re now testing the ability to create a Feed post on Instagram with their desktop browser.’

The test is not available for everyone to access and there are no announcements on the official rollout. Although if it does appear in your feed, might as well try exploring the new feature and post a selfie.
