Send laughter (literally) over typing ‘lol’ with FB Messenger’s new ‘Soundmoji’ feature
Remember those memes that show a person with a blank stare and a caption that reads ‘my face when typing lol so funny’? Whether or not you can relate, take a break from sending lol, lmao, and the classic hahaha when you can just send Facebook’s new feature called ‘Soundmojis.’
A Soundmoji is basically an emoji with sounds. People can send it in Messenger conversations to express what words can’t. There will also be audio clips from artists, movies, and TV shows like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Bridgerton.
The video below shows that there are 27 Soundmojis to choose from. However, only 10 are available in the Philippines as of writing. The library contains clapping, drum roll, and laughing, among others. Facebook’s Newsroom post assured that they would regularly update the Soundmoji library with new sound effects and famous sound bites.
To access the new feature, open a Messenger chat and look for the sound icon on the most right. Once you click it, a list of Soundmojis will appear below. Select your choice to preview the sound, and tap the “send” button to forward it to the conversation.
‘Sometimes, words just aren’t enough to express how you really feel,’ said Messenger on their official Twitter page. The update arrived just before World Emoji Day on July 17.
