The most expensive video game in the world was sold for P78 million
With the current progress of Esports, there are several modern platforms where gaming can be conducted. However, a certain Nintendo classic from 1996 made a mark, making it the most expensive game ever sold. The Super Mario 64 cartridge was auctioned for $1.56 million (approximately P78,205,140) at Heritage Auctions.
The multi-national auction house labeled it as the highest-graded copy of the video game. The description reads, ‘The cultural significance of this title and its importance to the history of video games is paramount, and the condition of this copy is just so breathtaking that we’re really at a loss here.’
Wata Games, a video game grading expert, rated Super Mario 64 with a 9.8 A+++ (Like New Condition) rating, with ten being the highest on the scale. It was also recognized as the most pristine copy of the 25-year-old game.
