OnlyFans backtracks on banning sexually explicit content
OnlyFans stated about a week ago that it would prohibit its creators from posting sexually explicit content, which is its main source of income. But on Wednesday, the platform announced that they had to rethink their recent decision and chose not to push through with it.
OnlyFans addressed those who voiced their concerns regarding their move. It said on Twitter, ‘We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change.’
The site also stated that it stands for inclusion and will provide a “home” for its creators. In a follow-up tweet, it assured, ‘An official communication to creators will be emailed shortly.’
OnlyFans’ initial reason for suspending creators from posting nude videos and photos was due to pressure from its financial partners. Twitter users called out the platform by saying that they could have dropped the partnered banks instead of its creators. Another user said that they took the “easy way out” instead of implementing better rules.
Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard.
We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change.
OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.

So instead of dropping Visa/MC you chose to drop us, the people who built your platform. You NEVER promoted us, only random fitness instructors and celebrities. WE brought the traffic. And you kicked us to the curb instead of standing up for us against the payment services.

Liars. You took the easy way out. You’ve deprived millions of sex workers of their sole income. You could have implemented better moderation, but instead, you’ve totally fucked us over with barely any time to plan for the future. Just remember, we made you.

The platform’s executive chief Tim Stokely executive explained that they had a problem with “increasingly unfair actions” from associated banks. The site’s accounts were terminated, which led them to struggle to transfer payments to its creators.
The London-based company reconsidered its earlier decision because of the clamor from sex workers who depended on the platform to make a living, especially amid the ongoing pandemic. Stokely also stated that he personally would support sex workers’ continued use of the service.
