Voice actress behind Muriel Bagge of ‘Courage the Cowardly Dog’ passed away
There are a bunch of cartoons that made up your childhood, and Courage the Cowardly Dog most probably topped the list. Thea White, the woman who brings life to the purple canine’s owner Muriel Bagge, passed away on Friday. The voice actress was 81 years old.
White’s brother John Zitzner announced her passing on his personal Facebook page. He explained that she was diagnosed with liver cancer several months ago. White then underwent surgical removal of the tumor on July 20. However, she had to go through another exploratory surgery since she suffered from an infection after the removal.
Following the second operation, White was brought to the ICU to recover, but she had been put on a ventilator and was sedated. According to Zitzner, ‘Soon, it became apparent that Thea would not make it so we decided to abide by her directive.’
On the other hand, White’s nephew Brad Zitzner also posted a heartwarming message about her. He called her “legendary” and shared that she was the “greatest cheerleader” in their family. He added, ‘I can see hundreds of fan tributes already online so your love was shared far and wide.’
Zitzner clarified that while White was known for her role in dubbing Muriel Bagge, she was a professional actress in her twenties and also worked as a librarian. He shared, ‘She was looking forward to seeing the new film Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby Doo meets Courage the Cowardly Dog.’
The Courage and Scooby Doo crossover is set to premiere in mid-September.
