SB19 is the only Filipino act nominated in the 2021 MTV EMAs
Earlier in May, SB19 received an international nomination for Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards. The Filipino P-pop band is back at it again with another nomination, but this time it’s for the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA). They are the only Filipino act that made it to the list.
The MAPA hitmaker is nominated under the Best Southeast Asia Act category, an award added to the EMAs in 2013. They are up against other artists such as Ink Waruntorn (Thailand), JJ Lin (Singapore), K-ICM (Vietnam), Lyodra (Indonesia), and Naim Daniel (Malaysia). The local EMA categories give viewers and fans the chance to select the best local act in their region.
SB19’s fans a.k.a. A’TINs can start voting through mtvema.com until November 10. The 2021 MTV EMAs is set to be held in Hungary, where it will be broadcast live across 180 countries on MTV channels on November 14 (November 15, Manila time).

The five-piece outfit is composed of Justin, Pablo, Stell, Josh, and Felip. They released their EP Pagsibol earlier in July. The group is known for its chart-topping songs such as MAPA, What?, and Hanggang sa Huli. They also had a collab with Ben&Ben called Kapangyarihan, which was instantly a fan favorite.
In the past years, other Filipinos were nominated for the MTV EMAs such as Ben&Ben, Nadine Lustre, James Reid, Moira dela Torre, and Sarah Geronimo. The Tala singer-songwriter had been nominated thrice and won the award in 2014.
