The Miss Universe PH crown has claimed another relationship
Is this a trend?
We’re not one to believe in curses, but if they did exist, the Miss Universe crown seems to fit the bill perfectly – at least when it comes to its winners and their existing relationships.
The latest proof? Kate Jagdon and her recent split with current Miss Universe Philippines Beatrice Luigi Gomez. The pair have been together for six years before the former confirmed the breakup this November 23 on an Instagram story.
Jagdon declined to splurge on details, only that the ‘past few weeks have been the most difficult time of my personal life’. Nor does she plan to, as she only spoke ‘before rumors and falsifications get out of hand’.
‘We all go forward with love and respect and I wish Bea the best of luck in her journey. At this moment, please respect my privacy and this will be the last time I will address the issue.’ wrote Jagdon, who also thanked her family and friends for their support.
Bea Gomez previously made history for being the Philippines’ first openly queer Miss Universe winner. And while winning any crown for the pageant-crazed country guarantees a ticket to fame and fortune, there are beauty queens who saw a shakeup in their personal lives after the fact.
Janine Tugonon famously broke up with hers on live TV, Clint Bondad went through a strange phase after separating from Catriona Gray, and Rabiya Mateo’s ex vented on ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ out of all places.
So there might be a Miss Universe curse. Or maybe there isn’t. Other former Miss U PH winners did eventually find love. But what we do know is, after all of the whispers, hullabaloo, and issues have died down, the true winners here are the giddy Marites reading this article right now.
