These Filipino students will launch NFTs on V-Day to save PH Eagles

You’ve seen posts or probably already bought non-fungible tokens (NFTs) like Harry Styles’ TikTok cardigan and Nadine Lustre’s audio collectible. But recently, six Filipino students aim to raise awareness on critically endangered animals through their NFT project called The Last on Earth Collective.

The six founders behind the NFT collection are Migs Ibasco, Eli Abella, Ken Diamante, Kobi Vidanes, Manuel Garrido, and Tyrone De Jesus. They study at the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, and De La Salle University.

The young team hopes to create a community that would “bring positive change in the world” by utilizing NFTs. In the first collection, the featured animals are the Philippine Eagle, Sunda Tiger, African Wild Dog, Cross River Gorilla, and the Sumatran Elephant.

The main beneficiary of the Last on Earth Collective is the Philippine Eagle Foundation, which will receive a portion of the NFT sales for the conversation and protection of the Philippine Eagle.

There are a total of 5,300 NFTs in the collection, which represents the estimated population of each critically endangered animal included in the NFTs. Currently, there are around 400 Philippine eagles left in the world, so only 400 in the collection are available.

The team worked on The Last on Earth Collective back in November 2021. They will be launching their collection on February 14, 2022. Each NFT will be priced at 0.53SOL (SOLANA). You can read more about them at www.lastonearthcollective.com, stay updated when you follow them on Twitter, or join their Discord group.
