Twitter users can now vote for Oscars’ new ‘Fan Favorite’ award

Most of the time, not everyone’s favorite film gets a chance to land an Oscar nomination. But an unprecedented effort for the 94th Academy Awards was recently announced – there will be a new distinction for fan-favorite films, which users can vote for via Twitter.

The latest award follows after many blockbusters like No Time To Die and Spider-Man: No Way Home didn’t land a spot in the award show’s major categories like the best picture. Starting on Feb. 14 until March 3, Twitter users can vote for any 2021 movie to win the title using the #OscarsFanFavorite hashtag.

If you check Twitter’s trending list right now, fan entries of the web-shooting Marvel hero have reached number one. But since any movie in the given year can land a chance, you can try voting for On The Job 2, or maybe you think Red Notice deserves recognition.

Film fans can vote a.k.a. tweet up to 20 times per day. The winning title, which earns the most votes, will be broadcasted during the Academy Awards on March 27. As an added incentive, three Twitter users will be randomly selected to win an all-expenses-paid trip to present an Oscar at the 2023 ceremony.

The Twitter-based voters can also participate and share a standout movie scene from last year using the hashtag #OscarsCheerMoment. This category requires a photo upload paired with a broad description. The winning scene will also be presented during the telecast.
