Twitter is working on ’Tweet Awards’, an option that might earn you money
Twitter has carried out many useful updates for the safety of its users and even features on combatting fake news. But recently, the platform announced that it’s working on a new monetization option called ‘Tweet Awards’.
In an image posted by reverse engineering expert Jane Manchun Wong, you’ll see a sample tweet of the upcoming feature in the function bar. The new option looks like a gift box that’s seen on the lower right part.
There’s also a microphone icon beside Wong’s username, which seems to be linked with Super Follow, a way for Twitter creators to generate income. Similar to the platform’s tip jar feature, Tweet Awards could be another way for tweets to earn you some cash.

Awards on Twitter is comparable to other platforms’ method of helping creators monetize their content. It’s similar to giving live gifts during live streams on TikTok, gifting options on Reddit, Super Stickers on YouTube, and virtual gifts on Facebook, which can be bought with Stars.
Twitter shared a statement on the ‘Award’ option to Social Media Today, ‘We’re always looking into new ways for people to engage with others on Twitter and don’t have further information to share at this time.’
While their comment doesn’t hint at anything specific, Wong’s screenshot is proof that the micro-blogging site is making efforts for its creators. Maybe the ‘Award’ option could lead someone’s viral tweet from getting a thousand likes to a thousand bucks in their bank account.
