Buzzfeed Unsolved will release a true crime series feat. Marcos regime

There are countless YouTube videos that people watch, but you’ve probably landed on the Buzzfeed Unsolved Network at one point. If you miss diving into interesting stories, the channel recently announced that Buzzfeed producer Aria Inthavong will be posting three short documentaries about the Philippines.

In the teaser video titled The Dark Horrors Of The Philippines, Inthavong explained that the mini-docus will explore “dark” and “sometimes spooky” accounts from the country while examining larger issues surrounding them. It showed snippets of scenes related to the Ferdinand Marcos regime, Manila Film Center, the U.S. colonialization period, and the Jabidah Massacre of 1968.

The Filipino stories on true crime and the supernatural are just one part of Inthavong’s travel series called Solivagant. He also shared that this is funded out of his own pocket.

On April 23, Inthavong shared on Twitter that he had five days to shoot the documentary, which is “tied to larger Filipino issues, culture, history, and politics.” He also acknowledged locals who helped him out including human rights group iDEFEND, Pinoy Ako Blog, Ibanag In The City, and more.

In a separate tweet, Inthavong revealed that the debut of his Philippine series will explore the “horrors of martial law” under the late dictator’s regime “through the lens of the Manila Film Center tragedy.” The documentary will drop on April 30, and it can be seen on his YouTube channel.
