The Internet accuses Olivia Rodrigo of cutting in line for BTS’ V

There was a lot to celebrate during the 2022 Grammys, but BTS easily grabbed the attention of the audience. Even online users can’t stop talking about the K-pop group — especially the part when Kim Tae-hyung a.k.a. V had a ‘sana all’ moment with Olivia Rodrigo.

BTS performed a live rendition of Butter, which was presented in a James Bond-like style. Jungkook descended from the ceiling like a spy, while the rest — Suga, RM, J-hope, Jin, Jimin, and V — emerged from the crowd. The latter member had the longest interaction, one involving Olivia Rodrigo, which instantly went viral.

The ARMYs got to see all seven members on stage despite Jin wearing a cast after having finger surgery, and Jungkook who recently recovered from COVID-19. The K-pop group’s hit-track Butter was nominated for Best Pop Duo, Group Performance.

A few minutes after BTS’ production, the trending topics on Twitter included: ‘WTF TAEHYUNG’, ‘Olivia’, ‘Filipina’, ‘Traitor’, all referencing Rodrigo’s 18-second cameo with V. After all, it’s not every day that someone gets a chance to be up close with one of the most adored K-pop idols.

Many users joked about how Rodrigo should get in line since many of them have been a fan of V for a longer time. Others pointed out that they should’ve been the ‘Filipina’ that the BTS member is talking to. ICYDK, Rodrigo happens to be half-Filipino as a result of her father’s family and her great grandparents’ family lineage.

The Traitor hitmaker won Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance for the night. She was also nominated for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video, and Record of the Year. The singer also made her Grammy debut with Drivers License, which she performed before BTS’ number.
